ROSEWOOD4.0 Study Visit – Digital Forest Day

ROSEWOOD4.0 is organising a new online study visit to share experience and transfer knowledge. We would like to invite you to Digital Forest Day, organised by ITD and FORZA (Central Eastern Europe Hub), which will take place online via Zoom next 13 September 2021.

The objective of the virtual session is to discuss current trends and applications of digital technologies in forestry in Central and Eastern European countries. The event will also present examples of best practices in the use of remote sensing to define stand descriptions, aboveground biomass and carbon sequestration. The online session is aimed at foresters, forestry and industry associations, timber and IT companies, researchers, policy makers and other forest sector stakeholders.

Event agenda:

‘Digitalisation in forestry in Poland and Ukraine – current applications and future trends’ – Expert panel.  10:00-11:00 (CET)

  • A unique opportunity to get an overview of applications of digital technologies in forestry, taking into account regional needs and possible areas of collaboration; discussion with invited experts from state forests and agencies, academia, research institutes, NGOs and IT companies.

Virtual study visit: RemBioFor (Poland). 11:15-12:00 (CET)

  • Best Practice: research project RemBioFor: ‘Remote sensing based assessment of woody biomass and carbon storage in forests’ – a practical example of successful application of remote sensing technology, enabling to tackle problems connected to insufficient data and climate change adaptation & mitigation measures.
