Best Practice for a sustainable timber supply chain in Romania
The Timflow GPS-monitoring system of Holzindustrie Schweighofer allows instant digital monitoring of wood supply, from forest to sawmill. More than 400 trucks delivering saw logs to the company’s mills are equipped with the GPS device that tracks its exact route from its loading place to delivery at the mill.
Much emphasis is placed on the protection of the personal data of the truck drivers e.g. by making the data available for a maximum of 30 days.

How does this Best Practice contribute to sustainable wood mobilisation?
European forests are threatened by illegal logging. In order to safeguard their essential ecological and social value, it is important to provide transparency regarding the origin of wood mobilised, proving the sustainability of its growing and harvesting. The GPS device is a new way to provide its users an insight into the timber supply chain.
