Central West Hub

Central-West Europe, especially Germany, Belgium, France, Austria and Switzerland, is a densely wooded area. Forests cover a third of the German, French, and Swiss national territory and almost 50% of Austria. Despite a highly professionalised wood sector, this region holds a lot of hidden potential concerning the mobilisation of wood resources. In the light of the growing demand for wood for construction and energy, there is a need for the sustainable use of dormant reserves, for example, from privately owned forests.
